Backup Tech – The Village Fete returns for 12th year with new chapter

The live events industry’s favourite fundraiser is back, and it’s heading to pastures new
Backup Tech – The Village Fete, the annual celebration that has become the definitive charity event for the UK’s live events sector, returns on 9 July 2026 for its 12th consecutive year. But this time, there’s a twist.
After more than a decade of raising vital funds for Backup Tech in Surrey, the Village Fete is packing up its bunting and relocating north to an exceptional new venue that will unlock the event’s next chapter of growth.
The move comes in direct response to feedback from across the industry. While the spirit, energy, and community that have made the Village Fete such a beloved fixture remain firmly intact, organisers recognised that geographical barriers were preventing many in the sector from joining in. The 2026 edition addresses that head-on.
The new venue retains everything that makes the Village Fete special while opening up exciting possibilities. With significantly more space to play with, enhanced facilities to support a larger-scale event, and the infrastructure to accommodate greater numbers comfortably, the 2026 edition promises to be the biggest and most ambitious yet, without losing an ounce of the charm and intimacy that define the day.
“The Village Fete belongs to the whole industry, not just one region,” says Lee Dennison, Backup Chair. “We’ve listened, and we’re evolving. This new home gives us more space, better infrastructure, and the capacity to welcome even more of our community through the gates.”
Everything you love about the event returns; the legendary go-karting race, the Flight Case Relay, the Bake Off, the Veg Off, and that irreverent blend of traditional village fete charm with live events industry camaraderie. Plus, there are new activities still under wraps.
What also remains unchanged is the purpose: raising crucial funds for Backup Tech, the charity supporting professionals across production, technical, touring, and live events when they need it most.
The exact venue and full programme details will be announced in the coming weeks. For now, one thing is certain; 9 July 2026 is a date for every diary in the industry.
